Understand deception in the age of AI.

Artificial intelligence can replicate voices, identities, authority and trust at unprecedented scale. ATI helps identify the signals, behaviors and threat patterns that still matter.

ATI evaluates evidence and threat context. It does not treat “AI detection” as proof.

01What ATI examines

Intelligence domains

ATI is organised around the ways artificial intelligence changes deception. Each domain defines what is being reproduced, what the attacker gains from it, and which signals remain reliable.

Domains are additive. New categories of AI-enabled deception are introduced here as they are documented, without changing how existing intelligence is presented.

  • A few seconds of public audio is enough to reproduce a familiar voice. ATI treats voice recognition as a weak identity signal and focuses on what the voice is asking for.

02What changed

Trust has changed

Voice, video, screenshots, writing quality and polished online identities were once reasonable evidence of authenticity. They are now reproducible.

01

“A familiar voice”

can be cloned.

02

“A video endorsement”

can be synthesized.

03

“A professional profile”

can be manufactured.

04

“A polished conversation”

can be automated.

Operating principle

When money, credentials, codes, account access or urgent action are involved, verify through an independent trusted channel.

03Featured scenarios

How AI changes real scams

Concrete situations, the element AI contributes, the threat it enables and what still verifies. Each leads to the NEXO surface that analyses it.

01

A family member sends a voice note asking for urgent money.

AI element
Cloned voice built from short public audio.
Threat
Emergency impersonation leading to an irreversible transfer.
Verify
Call them back on the number you already have. Ask something only they would know.
Check a phone number
02

A celebrity appears to promote an AI trading platform.

AI element
Synthetic video endorsement placed in a paid ad.
Threat
Deposit into a controlled platform with fabricated returns.
Verify
Search the regulator's register for the platform. Check the celebrity's official channels.
Check the platform link
03

A recruiter offers remote work but requires an upfront payment.

AI element
Polished, personalised outreach and a plausible persona.
Threat
Advance-fee fraud or identity document harvesting.
Verify
Confirm the recruiter through the company's official website. Legitimate employers do not charge to hire.
Analyze the message
04

A romantic contact gradually pushes crypto or investment advice.

AI element
Generated profile imagery and scripted emotional rapport.
Threat
Long-cycle investment fraud built on a fabricated relationship.
Verify
Insist on a live video call. Never invest through a platform introduced by an online contact.
Analyze the conversation
05

A support agent asks for verification through a suspicious link.

AI element
Fluent, brand-consistent scripting at scale.
Threat
Credential harvesting and account takeover.
Verify
Close the conversation and reach support through the official app or website.
Check the link
06

A highly realistic profile uses a polished emotional story to establish trust.

AI element
Synthetic identity with consistent imagery and narrative.
Threat
Trust-building that converts into a financial or data request.
Verify
Look for verifiable history: mutual connections, employment, prior activity. Absence is the signal.

Demonstrations

Modern AI-enabled scams can look and sound completely legitimate. ATI demonstrations show the techniques directly and explain which signals still matter.

Threat dossiers

Each dossier answers four questions: what it is, how AI is used, what the attacker is trying to achieve, and what to verify. Open one for signs, weighted signals and an illustrative scenario.

06How ATI reasons

Evidence, not guesswork

ATI does not treat a polished message, an unusual voice or a realistic image as proof of AI involvement. Conclusions are based on supported signals, context and observable threat behavior.

Where a conclusion cannot be supported, ATI says so. An honest “not established” is more useful than a confident guess.

Observed evidence
What is actually present: the request, the channel, the pressure, the claimed identity.
Supporting indicators
Patterns that raise or lower concern when they appear together.
Threat context
How the indicators combine into a recognisable scam structure.
Confidence
How strongly the available evidence supports a conclusion, stated explicitly.
Limitations
What could not be established, so that uncertainty is visible rather than hidden.
